Tips

Start your bike & hike tour in St. Jakob and cycle to the Putzen Alpe. From there you hike to the Leutkircher Hütte mountain cabin at 2,251 metres above sea level. A breathtaking panorama and the perfect tranquillity of pure, unspoilt nature await you at the top. This is the ultimate way to experience a perfect mix of action and enjoyment!

The tour starts at the Rendlbahn cable car and follows the Moostalweg mountain forest path to the Sattelkopf junction, where you park your bikes. From there, a hiking trail leads up to the Sattelkopf mountain, slightly less high at 1,985 metres above sea level, but just as mighty. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the Stanzertal Valley and the mountains. This is an incredibly enjoyable experience for sports and nature lovers alike!

Cycle along the Stanzertal valley cycle path towards the Alpe Rendl to the bike parking area situated 2,050 metres above sea level. From there, you hike along a narrow path to the summit of the Zwölferkopf mountain, standing proudly at 2,558 metres above sea level.

Mountain huts
Feast on the most delicious dumplings while enjoying a perfect panorama!

We don’t know about you, but the best thing after a gruelling yet satisfying climb – apart from basking in the pride of your endurance and enjoying an absolutely amazing view – is to relax and delight in a delicious Tirolean meal. This is hiking & feasting, so to speak. And the mountain huts in and around St. Anton are just perfect if you prefer to stop for a delicious detour after enjoying a hike or a summit tour in the Lechtal Alps and the Verwall mountains. And where can you find the best dumplings? In our opinion, you can sample these at the Darmstätter Hütte mountain hut. But each mountain hut has its own charm and opens up a vista over a unique mountain landscape, which is sure to mean that you will never forget your summer in the Tirolean Alps.

Tips

The Darmstädterhütte mountain hut situated 2,384 metres above sea level lies south of St. Anton in an impressive high mountain basin. It has space for 77 sleeping places and is therefore ideal for extended tours, especially for experienced mountaineers and alpinists, as well as for seasoned bikers.

The Leutkircher Hütte mountain hut at 2,251 metres above sea level is located right on the Lechtaler Höhenweg route, which leads from Zürs to Imst and is ideal for biking & hiking, long-distance tours and ridge walks over the main Lechtal Valley ridge. This mountain hut is well-known for its regional cuisine and spoils hikers every day (never taking a day off!) with delicious delicacies supplied by local farmers.

The Konstanzer Hütte mountain hut lies at 1,688 metres above sea level and is located in St. Anton. It is particularly popular with families and nature lovers. A shorter route to the mountain hut is available via the public bus line. Then adventurers can embark on foot or by bike on the ravishing route that takes you past meadows, forests and streams. The terrain is almost flat and can be easily travelled even with a pushchair. Once you arrive at the mountain hut, fresh mountain air, tasty regional cuisine and breathtaking nature await you there. And for those who like to be a little more active: from here you can continue on to other tours, for example to Schönverwall route or the Heilbronner Hütte mountain hut.

Reach new heights with hikes
and summit tours

Climb the peaks

The mountain village of St. Anton lies at 1,304 metres above sea level on the border with Vorarlberg between the Lechtal Alps to the north and the Verwall mountain hut to the south. The local mountain is the Gampen, and the highest point that can be reached using ski lifts is the summit of the Valluga mountain at 2,811 metres above sea level. Four hundred kilometres of marked trails crisscross the unique scenery of the Patteriol, Valluga, Hoher Riffler and Eisenspitze mountains. Experienced tourers as well as families and leisure hikers will all get their money’s worth.

Tip

The Patteriol, standing very tall indeed at 3,056 metres above sea level, is also known as the “Matterhorn of Verwall”, referring to the mountain in Switzerland, due to its shape. It is considered to be the most beautiful mountain in the region. Standing in solitary glory, its peak towers above the three-thousand-metre mark. Accessible via two routes, the Patteriol mountain is a popular choice of tour for experienced alpinists. The normal route is already suited to sporty adventures and requires climbing experience. The route via the north-east ridge is even more challenging despite the marked access and bolts, but certainly offers an unforgettable opportunity to enjoy a unique perspective, when accompanied by an experienced mountain guide.

Climbing
On the rocks & via ferrata

Is there anything that St. Anton doesn’t have? Boredom. Because even adrenaline junkies get their money’s worth here, especially when taking advantage of our climbing options. The 3-kilometre-long Arlberg via ferrata, which reaches an altitude of almost 2,500 metres, is one of the most beautiful but also most difficult tours in the Alps and leads high above the Stanzertal Valley and over some Lechtal peaks, providing wonderful views and vistas. The climbing crag in the Schnanner Klamm gorge, offering 36 tours of medium difficulty, is also well worth trying, as are the crags and multi-rope tours in the Moostal Valley. And if the weather isn’t on your side, head to the arl.park indoor climbing centre – the meeting place for climbing enthusiasts – and revel in tackling its 920m2 climbing area.
